NEWS: School fees jump 130 per cent

So much for a free education! Read the article and you will be surprised. Apparently NZQA was given $50 million to get NCEA working, but they schools were given nothing! The article ends with a quote from some 'important' person saying that school fees are voluntary. Yeah right, what about that school that threatened legal action?!

Oh yeah, I'll be adding a news feed sometime soon so that I don't have to post about news stories (which I'll probably still do, it'll give me something to work on) and you can just read the news for yourself.

NEWS: Minister denies beating pupils

If this stuff actually happened then why haven't these ministers gone to the police?! Hmmm? It seems that our government officials have nothing better to do than say lies, waste money and basically just stuff around. Well, that's democracy for you - or whatever the heck we run by.

NEWS: Schoolgirls leave boys in their dust

Okay so this article says that girls are acheiving better than boys. Good on them. Below are some extracts from the article and my opinions in italics next to them.
Theories why girls outperform boys:

* Boys are more suited to exams I see, and why is this?
* Girls are more suited to continuous assessment I see, and why is this? FYI, continuous exams suck
* Female aspirations and opportunities have grown Really?
* Classroom culture has been "feminised" What the hell is that supposed to mean?!
* Boys go through a period of low self-esteem causing them to lose sight of academic goals How 'bout no, school is rather dull nowadays
* Parental attitudes have a greater influence on girls than on boys I find that highly unlikely
* Boys engage in more disruptive classroom behaviour Mwa ha ha ha ha ha!
* Boys' motor development is slower I smell sausages!

I suspect that whoever wrote these theories pulled them out of their arse!

The Invisible Library

The Pool of Knowledge is now offering readers to view invisible information! Well, okay, not really. This neat site lists all the books that were made up or invented in other books. For example, Encyclopedia Galactica which was created in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams.

I've got my NCEA certificate

It arrived today. Nothing special. Nothing great. I have no idea how any employers other than those that work for a school or the NZQA will be able to interpret the Record of Learning! As for the certificate itself... it had Maori on the reverse side. Now, there's nothing wrong with the Maori language but what is the point. If you don't speak maori then what is the point in having a certificate printed in maori, it's not as if you're going to work in a situation where the only spoken and understood language is maori. That's all I have to say about that...

Famous Trials

Image hosted by Photobucket.comThis is a really interesting web site that highlights very famous court trials throughout history. You can read up on the trial of Socrates (399 BC) or Jesus Christ (30 AD) right up to the Clinton impeachment (1999). Click on a trial and that will ink you to that trial's main page which includes a run down of the trial, images and important events, dates, people and further links and references. And that accompanying picture (featured) for the The Lindy & Michael Chamberlain ("Dingo") Trial on the main page freaks me out!

NEWS: Teachers back NZQA boss

Okay, so the people that have always hated NCEA don't think that the CEO should lose her job. I agree. Just because something goes wrong it doesn't mean that CEOs and leaders should resign. But - since NCEA is incredibly evil, then resign she should!

NEWS: More NCEA issues

Mismanagement, communication failures, shoddy work... this sounds like a scandal. Well, at least the media hasn't added the 'gate' suffix to anything yet. *shudders* I really don't know why they introduced NCEA, I really don't. I think that everyone that works for the NZQA should resign, and sole leadership of the organisation given to me! While this transition is being organised, please feel free to read the news links below.
